How our story began

Our story began when our son was born, and we started buying organic chicken from stores to protect our child from harmful additives used in intensive animal production. Our main problem was that we always received frozen chickens, which made it difficult for us to prepare them. We tried various suppliers.

After some time, we finally found someone we could trust to raise chickens for us. We knew how they were raised, and we were confident that no harmful substances were added. We were happy because we had solved our problem.

Our happiness lasted for a few years until our daughter was born. Just when she was about to start eating solid food, the woman who had been raising chickens for us for years told us she would no longer do it. We were in a big dilemma.

Fortunately, in the meantime, I had the luck to meet Voja Marjanović, a young farmer who had a small pig farm in Preljina. He used innovative methods to raise animals without the use of antibiotics and drugs. I immediately called Voja to ask if he might raise chickens for us. He agreed. My next question was whether he would raise chickens for others in the same way, as I had many inquiries from our friends who had the same or a similar problem as us. He said he would!

This is how the idea for Meat Your Farmer was born!

Then the three of us got together, each with our expertise, and started the realization:

How we work

Twice a month, from the 1st to the 15th and from the 16th to the 28th/30th/31st, you have the opportunity to choose the animal you want us to raise for you. Once that period is over, and we collect all the orders, we begin the process of raising the animals. The duration of the raising process depends on the selected animal and ranges from 3 to 6 months (chickens 3 months, turkeys 4 months, pigs 3-6 months, etc.).

For example, if today is 09/07, and you want one chicken, it means that we collect all orders until 15/07, and on 15/07, we begin raising them. The chicken will be ready in 3 months, around 15/10 (you will be notified in advance of the exact delivery date), and it will be delivered to your doorstep, either whole or sliced.

Since most people have small freezers at home, you have the option to order, for example, one chicken every 15 days for a duration of 3/6 months. This means you will receive the first chicken on 15/10 and then approximately every 15 days until the end of the chosen period.

Regarding payment, you have two options: you can either pay the full amount upfront or make monthly payments. If, for any reason, you decide to cancel your order, the money you’ve paid up to that point will not be refunded because the raising process has already started. If the farm you selected cannot deliver the requested product (e.g., due to disease or predator issues), you have two options: a full refund or receiving the same product from a different farm.

It’s important to note that farms are obligated to inform MYF if there is any disease, and they must separate these animals. Once the animals are treated, they must not be delivered to the end customer under any circumstances.

The application was created with the aim of solving two problems – to provide rural people with reliable buyers for their products who will pay fair prices, and to offer urban people a trustworthy supplier from rural areas. To address the challenge of trust, all agricultural farms (AG) will have to do two things – undergo certification, and use innovative probiotics. Customers will pay a monthly fee for the animal-raising service.
